Jiang Xun, general Manager of China Cement Network said:Based on the importance of cement, the COVID-19 pandemic impact on the cement industry has been limited.Under the stimulus of infrastructure policy and special debt support, cement demand is stable. The COVID-19 pandemic will not change cement demand.
According to Bangladesh 《Daily Star》 on August 11,Due to the Coronavirus pandemic impact, the imports of raw materials for the cement industry fell 13% to 64.81 billion taka. The cement clinker is the second highest tariff income product in Bangladesh.
Before the Coronavirus pandemic,On average, about 25 million bags of cement are sold every day in Bangladesh, But the past few months, cement's average daily sales fell to 13 million bags.
In Latin America, the evolution of the pandemic in Uruguay was milder than in its neighbouring countries, and the country did not have to interrupt its economic activities. As a result, Votorantim Cimentos maintained the regularity of its operations in the country and benefited from local market factors in the second quarter. On the other hand, in Bolivia, the company was forced to freeze operations for two months due to the pandemic, which had a direct impact on sales volume.
